The 2013 Jones Beach Airshow took place as usual over the Memorial day weekend with some challenges. This was the 10th anniversary of the show held at the Jones Beach State park.
Since all US military demonstration teams were grounded, the show was left without a jet headliner team.
However the Canadian Air Force came through with their highly respected CF-18 Demonstration team. Captain Patrick “Flocho” Pollen flew a professional and well executed routine.
Other performers included the Raiders Flight Demonstration Team, the Yankee Air Museum's B-17 "Yankee Lady", the Geico SKytypers, assorted warbirds from the American Airpower Museum, as well as superb aerobatic performances by Sean Tucker, John Klatt, David Windmiller, Matt Chapman and Chuck Aaron.
The weather on Saturday was not conducive to having an airshow due to the heavy rain and high winds causing an unprecedented cancellation of the day's events.
However the weather cleared up for Sunday and the show went on as planned. Despite the challenges, the show was enjoyable and entertaining.
